System audio workflow

How to transcribe Zoom, Teams, Webex, or YouTube audio on Mac.

Sometimes you do not already have the file. The call is live, the webinar is running, or the video is playing in the browser right now. System audio capture is the local path from playback to transcript.

Updated May 13, 2026 Zoom, Teams, Webex, YouTube Mac workflow

Use this path when the audio is playing on your Mac and you want to turn it into text without waiting for an exported file or uploading the content to a separate transcription service.

When system audio capture is the right tool

The practical workflow

1

Start the source audio on your Mac

Open the meeting, webinar, or video and make sure the audio is coming through the Mac you are using for transcription.

2

Start system audio capture in SaidVault

Use the system audio recording path to capture what is playing. This works well for meetings, browser video, lectures, and other playback-driven workflows.

3

Stop when the useful part is done

You do not need to keep the whole session if only part of it matters. Once you stop, SaidVault sends the captured audio through the same local transcription flow as any other recording.

4

Review, search, and export

Clean up names, scan the transcript, search key phrases, then export to PDF, TXT, Markdown, SRT, or VTT depending on whether the result is for notes, documentation, or video.

Why this is useful

System audio capture closes a gap that normal file transcription does not cover. It helps when the audio exists only as live playback, or when exporting the file is awkward, slow, or impossible. The transcript still lands in the same local archive as the rest of your work.

Common examples

Meetings

Capture a Zoom, Teams, or Webex session so you can search what was said later, summarize it, or prepare documentation without depending on the platform’s own transcript pipeline.

Video and training

Transcribe a YouTube video, webinar, lecture, or internal training session when your real goal is notes, a transcript, or subtitles rather than just watching once.

Important note

Recording and transcription laws vary by country, state, workplace, and context. Make sure you are allowed to record or transcribe the meeting, call, stream, or playback you are capturing.

Need a transcript from live playback?

SaidVault can capture the system audio, keep it local, and turn it into a transcript you can search, review, and export.
